Guido Niest Cobra Candelabra, Italy 1980s

A single strip of silver plated metal coiled into two arms of unequal height, closed at the base by a curved sweep. Worked from one continuous ribbon not cast giving the twist a hand-shaped, uneven rhythm. Marked ‘Guido Niest Italy’ on the underside. Both candle cups intact. Dark tarnish in inner folds and light surface scratching present. A standing sculpture as much as a candelabra.
