Theodora is a marble mosaic sheet at 12 1/8 by 14 that draws on three stones at once, European White, Carrara T and Dolomite, in a mix of finishes. Each sheet covers 1.17 square feet and boxes hold six of them for 7.02 square feet.

Colour from the stones themselves

Rather than tinting one stone, this design sets three greys and whites against each other, so the pattern comes from material rather than from glaze or print. Finishes are mixed across the sheet, which adds a second layer of contrast that only appears as light moves. Variation between pieces is recorded as slight, keeping the effect controlled. Sheets are 3/8 inch thick. Because the sheets are cut from natural stone, dry laying several before setting spreads the darker and lighter pieces evenly instead of letting them gather in one area.

  • Three stones European White, Carrara T and Dolomite share each sheet.
  • Mixed finishes Surface treatment varies across the sheet as well as colour.

Shower floors

Shower floors is the recorded usage, bathroom the room. Sheets need their backs fully buttered so no void is left under the stone, and cuts between pieces come from a utility knife while cuts through a piece want a wet saw. Sixty square feet works out at ten boxes once 15 percent is added for waste. Sheets are supplied in boxes of six rather than individually, so quantities round to the box.

  • Ten boxes Sixty square feet needs ten boxes at 7.02 square feet each, waste included.
  • No hollows Butter every sheet fully before it goes down.

Why we chose it

  • Real stone contrast The pattern comes from three different marbles rather than from colouring.
  • Suited to a fall Small pieces let a sheet follow the slope towards a drain.
  • Controlled variation Piece to piece difference is recorded as slight.

Care

Seal after installation and reseal every one to two years, with more attention in a shower. Acids etch marble, so use a pH neutral stone cleaner and keep bleach, ammonia and abrasive pads away.
