Mocha Polished Marble Tiles 12×24

Marble tiles sawn to 12 by 24 inches at half an inch thick, then polished to a mirror face. The colour group is recorded as mocha, a mid brown, and variation between pieces is moderate. Four tiles fill a box and cover eight square feet.

Brown that keeps moving

Every tile comes out of a different part of the block, so the brown runs lighter in one piece and deeper in the next. Moderate is the recorded figure for that shift, which means it shows without taking over. Polishing deepens the colour and pulls the veining forward, much the way water does on a dry stone. Brown marble tiles rarely read as one flat tone, and at 12 by 24 the grout lines sit further apart than a square format allows, so more of what the stone is doing stays in view. Dry laying from several boxes before anything is set spreads the range evenly instead of leaving one dark patch in the middle of a room.

Residential and commercial interior floors and walls are all recorded, along with shower walls and residential light floors. Kitchen, living room and bathroom are the rooms listed. Nine boxes cover 60 square feet once cutting waste is allowed for. Kitchen floor tiles in polished marble ask more of the owner than a matte stone does, since the same shine that deepens the colour also shows an etch mark sooner.

Care

Seal after installation and reseal every one to two years. Use a pH neutral stone cleaner and keep bleach, ammonia and abrasive pads away from the polish. Lemon, vinegar and wine etch marble, so wipe them up rather than leaving them to sit.
