Brown & White Speckled Murano Glass Vase, Italy, 1980s

Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Murano glassworks produced numerous “macchia” compositions: flecks of colour embedded in the blown glass mass, creating an irregular mottled effect unique to each piece.

Milky white blown glass, speckled with orange, red and brown flecks, with vertical caramel striations on one side of the vase. Ovoid form, neck narrowing before flaring at the rim, foot with a slight collar.

Hand-blown piece.
