Czesaw Palczewski Candleholder, Hand Cut Polish Brutalist Metalwork, 1970s

A hand cut spiral of brass climbs a slender rod inside a dark, oxidised cylinder, its open window turning the flame into part of the composition. Made in Poland in the 1970s within the Folklor cooperative circle, by Czesaw Palczewski. Original unpolished patina: deep bronze with rubbed highlights. H 35 cm, 10 cm, base 9.5 cm. Sculptural single piece, sold as photographed.
