Italian Granite and Brass Vide-poche, 1960

A recurring approach in Italian design of the 1960s: pairing raw stone with refined metalwork to produce objects that are functional and visually direct. This square catchall combines a thick grey speckled granite slab with a turned brass bowl set flush into the stone surface.
The contrast between the unpolished granite edges and the warm, polished brass is the defining element of the piece. Maker and designer unidentified. Italian production, circa 1960.
Condition is very good. The brass shows a natural patina with minor, even oxidation marks. The granite is intact, no chips or cracks.
Dimensions: H 3 cm W 18 cm D 18 cm.
Suited for a desk, console, or bedside table. Works as a catchall, ashtray, or standalone decorative object.
