Large Blue Ombr Murano Glass Vase, Italy, 1980s

The sommerso technique, widely used in Murano through the second half of the 20th century, layers several tones of coloured glass. Here, a gradient runs from turquoise blue at the top to near-black midnight blue at the base.

Thick blown glass, generous ovoid form, narrowing neck with a clean rim. The clear glass foot reveals the thickness of the material.
