Large Sculptural Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, circa 1970

Large wheel-thrown and partially glazed stoneware pitcher, France, circa 1970.
The generous, gently tapered body is articulated by incised horizontal bands around the shoulder and rises into a slender neck forming a pouring spout.
A large arched, ribbon-like handle gives the piece a distinctly sculptural yet graceful silhouette. The reddish-brown stoneware body is largely left exposed, contrasting with the thick and irregular glaze covering the neck and handle in shades of dark brown, ochre and olive green.

Marked near the base with an impressed stamp composed of three circular motifs arranged as a trefoil; artist unidentified : probably La Borne in France ?

Very good original condition; a localized firing distortion is visible at the base and is inherent to the making process.
