Mahogany Box, Italy, 1960s

This small box takes a simple, unadorned form, where everything rests on the quality of the wood and its finish a typical approach in mid-century Italian craftsmanship, which favored raw material over applied decoration. The discreet metal hook clasp underscores that restraint.

Made from solid mahogany, entirely handmade, with dense, continuous grain that shifts between reddish-brown and mahogany tones depending on the light. The interior, in a lighter wood, is divided into two compartments by a separating tab.

Wood nourished with wax at the workshop, no visible flaws, with even coloring and good depth throughout the piece.

Dimensions: 17 cm long, 11 cm wide, 8 cm high.

Suited to a desk or dresser, for storing jewelry, cufflinks, or small valuables.
