Ziggurat sets black marble against Bianco Dolomiti in a stepped arrangement on a 12×12 sheet, with more than one finish across the pieces. Contrast is the whole idea, and this is the strongest of the mosaics in this range.

Two stones at opposite ends

Where most mosaics work within a tonal family, this one puts the darkest and the lightest next to each other, so the stepped geometry reads from across a room. Variation within each stone is slight, which keeps the contrast clean rather than muddy. The mixed finish adds a second reading at close range. Sheets are 3/8 inch and cover 0.9 square feet each. Scale is the other consideration: the stepped motif needs enough area to complete itself, so a narrow band may cut the pattern before it resolves.

  • Maximum contrast Black and white marble together rather than shades of one stone.
  • Two readings Geometry from a distance, finish differences up close.

Approved throughout

The listing covers commercial and residential interior walls and floors, backsplash, bath floors and walls, shower walls and floors, and residential light floors. Kitchen, living room and bathroom all appear. Thirteen boxes take care of 60 square feet with cutting allowed. Strong contrast needs a considered grout, since a mid tone will read as a third colour across the pattern. Full adhesive contact behind each sheet applies here as everywhere, since a void under stone eventually finds the weakest piece.

  • Thirteen boxes 5.4 square feet a box across 60 square feet.
  • Grout is a third colour With black and white, the joint colour becomes a design decision.

Why we chose it

  • Real contrast Two stones at opposite ends rather than one graded material.
  • Widely approved Floors, walls, wet areas and commercial use all appear.
  • Reads at distance Stepped geometry in high contrast carries across a room.

Care

Seal after installation and again every one to two years. Both stones etch with acid, so cleaning is a pH neutral stone product, and a dark marble shows residue from anything left to dry on it.
