Flint Black Honed Herringbone 5/8×3 Marble Mosaics 10 7/16×12 13/16

Marble mosaics in black, honed, cut as a 5/8 by 3 inch herringbone on sheets measuring 10 7/16 by 12 13/16 inches. Six sheets go in a box for 5.52 square feet. Samples are available.

Small pieces, strong direction

Herringbone sends the eye along two diagonals at once, and at 5/8 by 3 the pieces are small enough that the direction reads before the stone does. Flint Black honed stays matte, which suits a dark marble: polish on black shows every fingerprint and every water spot, while a honed face keeps them out of sight. Black licorice grout is listed with it, which lets the pattern run unbroken instead of being drawn out joint by joint. The same marble is also stocked as a 3×12 tile. Samples are worth taking on a black stone, since a photograph flattens the difference between honed and polished more than it does on a pale marble.

Nearly every indoor surface

The approval list is long: interior floors and walls in both homes and commercial work, shower walls and floors, bath floors and walls, backsplash and light traffic underfoot at home. Bathroom is the room noted. Marble tile backsplash runs are the easiest of those, since a knife between the pieces trims a sheet to fit. Sixty square feet works out at thirteen boxes. Fill behind each sheet properly, because a hollow under stone becomes a cracked piece later on.

Care

Seal after installation, then every one to two years. Use a pH neutral stone cleaner and skip bleach, ammonia and abrasive pads.
