Royal Beige Arabesque is a polished marble tile shaped to a curved arabesque outline, sized 8×11 and sold by the piece at 0.31 square feet. A sample can be ordered, which is sensible with a stone whose veining shifts from piece to piece.

A shape that interlocks

Arabesque pieces lock into each other along curved edges, so a run has no straight grid to it. Polishing brings up the depth of the beige and sharpens whatever veining a given piece carries. The body is 3/8 inch. Beige marble tiles cut to this outline also have a matching 8×8 trim, and the same stone exists as pavers, mosaics and a chevron sheet.

  • Curved joints Pieces interlock rather than sitting in rows, so the layout has no straight grid.
  • Matching trim An 8×8 piece in the same stone finishes an edge.

Shower floors

Shower floors is the recorded usage, living room the noted room. Every piece comes from a different part of the block, so laying several out before setting keeps darker and lighter pieces spread rather than clustered. Count by dividing the area by 0.31 square feet, then add for cuts, which on a curved outline tend to be more numerous than on a square tile.

  • Dry lay Spreading pieces before setting evens out the natural variation.
  • Allow extra Curved edges produce more offcuts than a straight tile does.

Why we chose it

  • No grid Interlocking curves give a surface without the usual rows and lines.
  • Sample first Natural stone varies, so a sample answers more than a photograph.
  • Family of formats Pavers, mosaics and a chevron sheet share this stone.

Care

Marble needs sealing after installation and resealing every one to two years, more attentively in a wet area. Acids etch it, so keep vinegar and citrus cleaners away and use a pH neutral stone product instead of bleach or ammonia.
